David Wheeler
Chairman of European Telecom Group (IBD), Credit Suisse
David P Wheeler is a Senior Advisor in the Investment Banking Division of Credit Suisse, based in London. He is Chairman of the Investment Banking Department's EMEA Telecom Group and Deputy Chairman of the EMEA Investment Banking Committee.
Mr Wheeler joined Credit Suisse First Boston in 1996. During his tenure at the Bank, he has held a variety of roles, including Head of the EMEA Telecom Group and Vice-Chairman of the Investment Banking Department. Prior to joining CSFB, he was Co-Head of the Global Media and Telecommunications Group at Lehman Brothers for six years. Prior to this, he spent 15 years with JPMorgan.
Mr Wheeler has 30 years of investment banking experience and has worked in London for 24 years. He has served as advisor on numerous transactions including IPOs for Esat, Matáv, Neuf Cegetel, Sonae.com and Versatel, and high yield offerings for Eircom, Jazztel, TDC and Turkcell. He also advised on the privatization of Swiss Telecom, its secondary offering and the subsequent sale of the company to BT. Other transactions on which Mr Wheeler has advised include Crown Castle's purchase of BBC Transmission and KPN's divestiture of its European cable assets.
Mr Wheeler received a B.A. from Bowdoin College, summa cum laude, and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Bowdoin College. He served as a Board member and Vice Chairman of the European Competitive Telecommunications Association for four years and is a former Board member of Ben Mobile Netherlands.
